Vero Beach, FL here. Walmart is packed. Home Depot is packed. That weird feeling in the air is here now. Those who have been in a Hurricane know what I'm talking about. Just driving around, I was asking, what will our city even look like in a week from now? It's get very eerie here, now that everyone is expecting a Major hurricane at landfall somewhere on the Florida EC, seemingly Central. Praying for everybody in Dorians path. :flag:

I suspect its right now putting in the heavy leg work, if this structure holds as it pulls away to the NW we probably have a decent shot at pretty quick intensification. Expect a major within the next 24hrs IMO.

Based on obs, FL winds are coming pretty much to the surface in the gusts and only a little lower in sustained.

I see an eye that hasn’t cleared yet but I don’t see a pinhole eye.

Currently making plans as we speak to head down to cover the landfall of Dorian somewhere along the FL coastline this weekend the way this is looking at the moment! Amazing what a LLC relocation can do to a forecast. I really hope everyone is taking this seriously in FL, especially if this really slows down as it interacts with that ridge. I can only foresee some slight shear from the ULL, but at this pace, the ULL will outpace Dorian

"Best looking" hurricane we've had in a long time.

2017 was only 2 years ago lol

Michael was even more recent, that looked amazing at its peak and was still RI right into landfall!

Thinking about it now, we've had some pretty potent hurricanes in the last few years, starting to feel like its matching up to the 02-05 period in terms of landfalling hurricanes.

Folks, Dorian has a pin hole eye.

That's not a pinhole eye. It is largely obscured by clouds and the setting sun is creating shadows that mislead you. We need to see some microwave satellite images and other data to get a better idea.

My parents still live in Boca Raton and I’m growing more concerned for S.Fla, I’ll be making a decision tomorrow if I’ll be booking a flight from Honolulu to Ft.Lauderdale for Friday.

It’s not a fully formed eye or eyewall structure yet. Far, far from being a dreaded “pinhole eye”

Fair enough, but the latest satellite image mimicked one.
I stand corrected.

There's still some dry air around so cracks in the CDO and convection will give some illusion of warm spots. But I think it's a matter of time.

One can also check TJUA radar to see eye structure

Just because you see a small clearing on visible does not mean it's a pinhole eye. Pinholes surrounded by very cold, symmetric CDO are something to behold. Not the case here.

Radar trends suggest some consolidation of the southern eyewall. we'll see if this continues

The CDO seems much better. I doubt the family would let me chase, but this would seem like one

Right, but please be careful when stating a meteorological observation. It could cause unnecessary panic. Not that Dorian is scary enough already...
