Weather geeks yes, I suppose most got prepared but many on the west coast have got on with their lives. Would be a pretty huge surprise

Hopefully they're treating it as if landfall is still a possibility, given the cone still covers much of the state.

most people re still waiting and monitoring but a lot of people already called this a dud and wondering why the kids have off from school on Tuesday, lot of complacency now and thinking the threat is gone

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

Publix in Saint Augustine was dead at 5:00. Not a good sign. Plenty of bread, deli, meat, seafood. Fully stocked.

Yep. I agree. Really surprised the NHC wasnt more aggressive at the 11 update but they seem confidant it will turn. We shall see.

They're as confident as they can be because the models all trend to this solution. I trust the NHC knows what they are doing.

From what I've seen here locally in northern Palm Beach County, people took things pretty seriously. They did prepare and I'm seeing a significant portions of the homes in my neighborhood with shutters completely up tonight and waiting. I think the preparedness message was delivered well to those that will listen. At the same time, I think expectations fell quite rapidly this afternoon for any kind of weather event. That's a shame given the potential forecast error and proximity of a Cat 4/5 storm.

Publix in Saint Augustine was dead at 5:00. Not a good sign. Plenty of bread, deli, meat, seafood. Fully stocked.
I work at Publix in St Pete and compared to Friday and Thursday, Saturday was almost a normal Saturday.

That was the reason for my question. It seemed to have picked up speed. Not good. If this somehow hits Florida, its going to leave a bad taste in the mouths of many. I fear we have gotten too confidant in models. The NHC would likely take a pounding. I imagine they are on pins and needles.

I used to work at 866 in Clearwater and 705 in Largo, which store are you at?
