Re: ATL: DORIAN - Hurricane - Discussion
I can just tell the whole atmosphere north of Dorian is moving westward at this moment, I just had tropical shower pass by that came off the Atlantic Ocean, very strange for this time of the night for popcorn ocean showers to move so far inland over my area.

They will have little choice. Seems like evac South is the way to go if ordered and you are able.

I would think they would have to, hurricane warning from Deerfield Beach northward.

Cloud tops are yet again cooling, especially on the west side where they briefly warmed earlier. Assuming it continues to maintain its structure, my bet is that recon will finally have sufficient evidence to classify this as a cat 5 when they make another pass.

Re: ATL: DORIAN - Hurricane - Discussion
I'm thinking hurricane watches, extended tropical storm watches and tropical storm warnings where we have the watch now.
I do not see how the NHC can not shift their track West at 5am. I will trust their judgement regardless.
Looks like I won't be getting any sleep until at least 5am. My mom in Cocoa Beach expects me to call her tomorrow morning and will want my opinion on staying or going.

Weird question. If Deerfield beach and points North go on Hurricane watch would Orlando also go on Hurricane watch? I live on the west coast so not sure how that works inland. Supposed to visit son in Orlando but may make him come here instead

Dorian is a small hurricane moving slowly...there's no need to go to instant hurricane warnings for the east coast. I could see an eventual combo of ts warnings and perhaps some hurricane watches if guidance comes more west...

At this point there are many unknowns, but I'd be willing to bet at this point that him coming to you would certainly be safer.

Not likely unless they expect hurricane winds that far inland.
The NWS will issue inland hurricane warnings when they need to.

Still more than 24 hours....
24 hours for a warning, 48 for a watch.

I don't see how they can be blamed for setting a hurricane watch (not warning) for the Florida EC in the morning, it's entirely warranted. Just enough to make sure everyone there is paying attention if they weren't already. And considering the difficulty of escaping a storm on the peninsula, a little more time is justified even if it's over the typical 48 hours.

Hurricane warnings are 24 hours out. I know the geography is scary close, but the timing would be 48 hrs+?
Side note, Martin County said no evacuations for the County this evening...

Yeah I didn't think much of that. If not Dorian, people are gonna eventually learn to not make calls like that.
