Re: ATL: DORIAN - Hurricane - Discussion
With the overnight stall and maybe a tick to the northwest I'm sensing some much deserved easier breathing for our east coast friends. Let's hope the day offers more encouraging signs

Dr. Knabb on TWC just said the same thing so I would think so.

I think that is some dry air getting into the circulation from the NW now that winds in the mid to UL are coming in from the NW along with the earlier EWRC, dropsondes from earlier this morning showed some dry air in the mid to upper levels to the NW of Dorian.

Storm2K Family and Friends...dont freak out...The EWRC is in the final stages. The old eye is going to wrap around the new larger eye. It is in the NE part of the new eye. that means it will likely swing W to maybe WSW for a few frames. The overall eye is moving WNW. Stay calm...

The slow progression of Dorian, as terrible as it is, also allows more time for preparing, evacuations, etc...

STOP ALL DISCUSSION OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OPINIONS
If someone relates false information then by all means REPORT IT, but do not offer your opinion of those decisions here, this is not the place for it and just adds to confusion. Worse, recommending people do not obey these decisions is not allowed here!

I've been up and about and have not been able to watch read tv or this fourm....Well my household finished getting last minute supplies and just doing some house/lawn preparations. Is Dorian still forecast to be getting too close for comfort for NE FLA Coastline or has the track moved more east with less impacts?

Another sage piece of advice I heard somewhere down the pike - not sure if it was John Hope or who.....
The SHAPE of the eye tells you if it's changing directions. Up thread, and maybe 2 pages back, the last frame of a radar loop showed the eye oblong, east to west.
Doesn't look like a move NW to me.
Yet.

I doubt it, the Earliest Reasonable time for winds to arrive is not until 8 pm tonight with most likely being Tomorrow.

West side looks a little weak. I wonder if some dry air managed to work its way into the circulation as the footprint grew during eyewall replacement. The dry air is well sampled by the 12Z Key West sounding.
