Very strange to see lightning with the squall coming through my area western Seminole County/NW Orange County in the Orlando area on the NW quadrant of Dorian.

This is such a horrific story about a man that lost his wife in Freeport.

I'm assuming that it's my eyes playing tricks on me but why does it look like it's heading right for us in Daytona when I look at it on radar?

NDG, what would you estimate the wind in that squall passing through you right.now? Radar is indicatng lightning in that intense quall line, so I would think the wind should be decent in that band.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

It does to me too.... troubling, but hopefully it's just a momentary wobble. If you check the SFWMD site though, they have a line showing the track. Right now it seems to be pointed right at the FL/GA border.....

I’m in that same intense band, but just south of Walt Disney World. Have had a few pretty strong gusts I’d estimate maybe 35mph or so.

In the 30-40 mph in gusts, not too bad, but more than I thought given how far away Dorian is from my area.

Definately a west wobble. Hopefully it will not be a trend.
Looks like I have another sleepless night ahead of me. I fear that a Florida landfall still is on the table(and landfall somewhere in the SE is becoming more likely). Not liking this apparent west wobble.
Regardless Dorian does not need to make landfall to cause serious problems along the SE CONUS coast.

More helicopter video of Abaco. Some crazy insane large yacht damage from the surge including colliding into homes.

I’m thinking it’s a bit of an illusion as the eye is expanding and sprawling out. Could even be a bit of a wobble, but I noticed it too as it has certainly looks like a western component has been added to the northern movement.

The mother of all dry slots on IR, also looks like it's eroding the southern eye wall.

On my mobile phone and that eye wall looks huge, or is it just me?

Question....
Why do I see wind gusts of up to 60mph being reported by WESH2 on the Brevard County coast, then I look at the actual data from the Trident Pier shows a max wind gust of 38knots over the last 3 hours?
I know the "measurements" on the news are not actual instrumentation, but extrapolated by Doppler radar readings.
I know the buoy data isn't continuous, so is the buoy just "missing" the highest gusts?

Since Dorian moved very slowly, I wonder how much rain has fallen. I can imagine a very high total.

There IS a "blast" of cooler air, a "cold front," so to say, which is the drier air and cooler air which is helping push Dorian along.
Felt good when I went outside this morning! Almost like Fall is in the air.
