That name list cycle certainly took uh, a while lol. Correct me if wrong but this means it's the first name to be re-used there since modern naming began yes?

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Ugh those recurves, I'm getting Lane's flashbacks, I hope it doesn´t become a trend for Hawaii

Yes, the first time List 1 and Akoni has been used since 1982. Only took about 37 years to cycle through all 4 lists

This should remain well south of Hawaii, I don't see much of a chance it threatens the Hawaiian Islands at all, even if it regenerates.

Based on satellite presentation it looks like Akoni was swallowed by the ITCZ?

Yeah I'm not sure what happened or what's going on. The CPHC disco was a little vague. No deep convection near its LLC so its a remnant low? But there's plenty of deep convection south of the center although its probably associated with MT/ITCC -- but its still there with some association with the LLC. Unless it opened up into a trough.

There's deep convection, but the circulation does look a little broad to me, so I'm in agreement that it doesn't qualify as a tropical cyclone right now. I think it needs to do some more work to become its own defined entity.
