What exactly is the "big difference"? As far a sensible wx is concerned I see none..but I'm not a pro...

just that it is not a frontal low. formed independently and warm core..

Yep, this system formed from a pure tropical wave/disturbance not from a frontal boundary.

Plenty of TS force winds found by the recon, buoy 42002 now reporting 1003mb pressure.

No doubt it was warm core, it was classified a TD. We had a warm cored cyclone, at least up through 17Z today.

HH was approaching the center and is apparently having problems with the comms.

The cold front has not reached its core yet, want to know why? Because the buoy is reporting a temp of 79.3F with a dewpoint of 75.9F.
Clearly the cooler air has been wrapping around its circulation along its western and SW quadrants but the system remains a warm core, at least for the next few hours.

BTW, the TS force winds that the recon has found so far is in the warm NE quadrant of the system not at the western quadrant of the system where the cooler surface air is.

Makes no difference where the moisture originated, it’s a frontal low now.

Recon confirms that it is a warm core system. Pressure lower than thought.

:uarrow: :uarrow: Thanks NDG. That should clear up any question that this at the current moment is warm core for sure.

Now is when the recon is finding the cooler air wrapping around on the SW quadrant of the storm.

That temperature profile shows that it is a close call about whether it’s warm core or not. If they wait until 5 pm, it will definitely be frontal by then. If they’re gonna upgrade, they need to do it now.

That's from cooler air circulation around its LLC, it is making the transition to post tropical but it remains a warm core system, IMO.
