Olga's CoC had a nice little pressure gradient, Hammond's airport, on the north shore of Lake P., reported a 5 mb pressure drop in just one hour.

Power out all over St Tammany and some areas of Washington Parishes. For those of you who don’t know what a Parish is, it’s Louisiana’s version of a County.

Winds gusting here in the Pearl probably in the low end tropical storm range.

Tons of moisture converging into Olga from GOM, Bahamas, and W Carib.
Foecast to bomb out as moves into Ohio Valley.
Good thing its moving fast.
Going to be a big weather story today.

A lot of people woke up surprised here in South Mississippi this morning. Winds are howling near 50mph with even higher gusts. Trees are down with power outages. Our meteorologists are normally wonderful, but they missed it this time. Not much warning of high winds. Forecasts only showed 10-15mph with gusts to 20mph. Believe the strength of Olga even surprised them. Impressive system.

Reminds me some of the 2007 Olga, another system that was written off in the Gulf after NHC washed its hands of it. It was a moderate TS which moved through PR and Hispanola and died off, but although it regenerated near the Yucatan NHC didn't re-name it, and it then moved NE into the Tampa Bay area surprising everyone around here with sustained TS force winds and even gusts to hurricane force at Clearwater Beach. It took the roof off of the Pasco County jail.

I’m thinking in post season analysis that they extend genesis back 12 hrs and change to a TS landfall but we’ll see what is done

I agree, the LLC was not attached to the frontal boundary as the strongest winds over SE LA was very close to it and not behind the frontal boundary or the low. It had a nice tight core and pressure gradient. You don't see that in a pure non tropical low pressure.

Radar imagery sure has gotten interesting over the past couple of hours. Looks like a "landcane".

:uarrow: just animated the radar on that on RadarScope and interestingly it doesn't seem to be rotating, simply moving north as a whole looking like that.

Nestor’s impacts in the FL Peninsula and Olga’s impacts on the Central Gulf show why weaker systems should still be taken seriously. I hope everyone is okay!

Especially when the "weaker" system wasn't apparently as weak as anticipated. From what I've been reading about Olga, she sounds like a milder version of Cindy 2005.
