Tropical Weather Outlook
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL
200 PM EDT Wed Oct 30 2019

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. Showers associated with a low pressure system located several
hundred miles west of the westernmost Azores continue to show signs
of organization. If the current organization of shower activity
persists, advisories will likely be initiated on a tropical or
subtropical storm later today or tonight. The system will likely
move over colder waters on Thursday and further development is
unlikely after that time. The low is producing gale-force winds and
these winds are forecast to continue today, regardless of
development. For more information on this system, see High Seas
Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...high...70 percent.

High Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service can be
found under AWIPS header NFDHSFAT1, WMO header FZNT01 KWBC, and
online at ocean.weather.gov/shtml/NFDHSFAT1.php.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

That dive to the South really helped it get its act together. I wasn't expecting much but looks at least nameable now as a subtropical system. I think if it can sustain until this evening we will get our next named storm.

This keeps up and we keep getting these weirdo subtropical cyclones out by the Azores through November we'll end up with 19+ this year.

Why stop in November? Maybe 3-5 December Azores storms.

Convection isn't as organized as it was in Pablo, but I've seen em name way worse last year. Didn't think we'd get to 17 named storms this year back in August, for sure.

Reminds me of late season 2005 with the parade of transitioning systems.

You can certainly make a case for it being tropical right now. Convection has wrapped just about fully around the center. Well, if this continues, NHC could conceivably upgrade to tropical, but it would have to be tonight or early Thursday before Rebekah gets back also over cooler ssts..

I spent a few hours looking through archived WPac imagery and come back to yet another storm out in the middle of the Atlantic.

...should I even be surprised that October 2019 decided to pump out one last surprise system? They’ve been forming like roaches this month.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Five makes for a pretty respectible October. I think tying with 2010 and 2012 at being the most since 2005. Not that three of them lasted more than a day, but, still.
