Re: ATL: ZETA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Ok per the SAT loop I can’t call it struggling but rather a hiccup. It has more healthy features now than before landfall. The convection is displaced atm, but considering the rest of the system is very well structured, I can’t see this not popping over night.
The Gulf coast really needs to be aware not just bc of future intensity but especially because of it’s size and pretty even structure now which means impacts could be almost equally dangerous across the whole system.

The NAM and GFS are showing 80-90mph wind gusts fit coastal and southeastern/southwest Alabama. They’re telling us to expect power outages

Note: If I make a post that is brief. Please refer back to previous posts for the analysis or reasoning. I do not re-write/qoute what my initial post said each time.

This needs to develop at least some convection in the next 6-12 hours if it even wants to survive. It looks like a low end, dying TS. It can’t last without any new healthy convective bursts.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Hopefully the land interaction will cripple the storm until landfall...

it does look sub-tropical

Pressure is still good at 985...All depends if that good structure re-fires I guess...

Epislon had that same big swirl look to it if I recall correctly, however I make no comparison between zeta and epsilon, other than they both had that similarity in appearance for a time in their individual "lifetimes"...

I see a little hot tower trying to fire off SW of the core! Convection in the north quad starting to thicken a tad too!

New tower going up on the west of the CDO, first tower of white/purple intensity since Zeta moved off the coast

Chances are decent that the hurricane models have it well depicted. Looks to stay a bit ragged before closing off an inner circulation layer only to concentrate that energy to its north around landfall. Still, I think anywhere from a 65-80mph system at landfall looks about right to me.

Quite an ignorant thing to say and I’m also reporting your post

Afternoon forecast discussion from the Peachtree City NWS says to expect a TS watch at 5 for parts of northwest Georgia. Could shape up to be the biggest tropical wind impact up here since Irma.

With a decrease in OHC, possibly increase of shear will aid in keeping Zeta's intensity level in check, at a minimal Hurricane or Tropical Storm....whatever is best for the residents for where it landfalls, and all of those in impact areas, is what I hope for....and then later Zeta....gtho

The higher CAPE air is working its way into the core now.
Seeing a lot more overshooting tops.

Based on what I'm seeing from the 1 minute IR loop, it looks like what we thought was the MLC is actually the southern flank of the degraded CDO, with the LLC the "center" of this new, much larger circulation. The western and northern flank are steadily rebuilding as we speak.

It does look like the mlc has migrated north, maybe Zeta will finally put a show on.
