Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

Really ramping up now. Best guess is 70-75 knots, but recon will obviously tell the real story.

2020 has clearly done a number on everyone because on an average year an already record-breakingly early intensifying July hurricane landfalling in the CONUS would cause much more activity

Radar images since 3AM. Slow down at the end is a result of KCRP being put into SAILS mode (meaning radar images every ~3 minutes now instead of ~5):

The western portion of the eye wall is firing new convection. That was the weak portion of the eye wall and it could be correcting that now. Still wouldn’t rule out 100mph.

Note: If I make a post that is brief. Please refer back to previous posts for the analysis or reasoning. I do not re-write/qoute what my initial post said each time.

Looks like a direct hit in Kennedy County south of Riveria. There is a HUGE wind farm that is in the path. Curious on how those big wins generators will do with Cat 1 winds?? Thoughts?

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This is a mean storm and seem to be a slow mover. I wouldn't pay attention to its categorization and a storm with this size and this type of movement unfortunately has Hurricane Ike vibes (large storm with major hurricane type impacts despite the low category). Hope everyone in its path is prepared and is taking this very seriously.

Free Fall
Winds may not die down for a while after it makes landfall.
