Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Anyone, can a storm be too strong by the eye to fly into?

While we wait this story from Jeff Masters is worth a read.

Maybe, they did fly into 200+ mph winds in 2015 inside Pactrica.

I also remember them flying in and then getting stuck and they had to circle Patricia for a little until they found a way out. Thankfully the recon teams are well qualified professionals and they know what they're doing. Otherwise I wouldn't want them in any Cat.5 hurricane.

I'd watch a 2 hour movie of film shot from the interior of the plane as they head to Eta, with epic music playing the whole time

It's hard to fathom that this was a tropical storm last night and just developed shortly before that, this year's RI with this and Delta is scarcely fathomable.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Did not know there was Recon inside Gilbert, I did know about Allen in 1980.

Certainly doesn't look like an Atlantic hurricane with that CDG ring

A circular CDG ring in the Atlantic. Probably the first in history if eye continues to warm.

I am only a tropical weather enthusiast. My predictions are not official and may or may not be backed by sound meteorological data. For official information, please refer to the NHC and NWS products.

DT is capped at 7.5, a manual FT8.0 needs an addition banding feature or an MET8.0 to support a FT8.0.

even though CDG isn't supposed to count for an additional .5 T, we've been seeing it done lately, so I'm counting it if the width is met.

Just FYI - Intensification records to beat (both currently held by Wilma):

Wind Speed: 70 mph to 175 mph in 24 hours. (right now, Eta has strengthened from 70 mph to 150 mph in 18 hours).
Central Pressure: 97 millibar pressure drop in 24 hours. 979 millibars to 882 millibars. (Eta currently has a pressure of 934 millibars, which is a drop of 55 millibars in 18 hours).

Between this and the election I have no idea how any of you have gotten any work done at all today. I've been able to go 15 minutes uninterrupted maximum
