Yeah it looks like it’s catching up to its absolutely phenomenal IR appearance. Let’s see how much of a pressure drop the next pass finds.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

There was some data errors but look at the plane altitude. I'd say that was a bumpy ride and they may have missed the eye.

The hurricane just entered mature stage not long ago on the hourly loops. Using 1-min scans to determine the intensity was not very helpful(nor does the 6 hour average as used by SAB applicable in this case)

I just want to point out it's quite possible Eta is still rapidly intensifying. This is an incredibly dangerous storm for Nicaragua and much of Central America. Often times the satellite signature precedes changes in TC intensity. As quick as this burst of intensification has been, a storm can't instantly go from a TS to a Cat 5. I am still deeply concerned for what's to come.

Worth mentioning that this is still a over 60 mb drop in the last 24 hours. Which is almost 3 per hour. That's a very impressive rate of deepening.
