Very likely, with the center reformed offshore and convection building even more. The chances of seeing a TD by 5pm are good.

The only thing that would hold that back is the tilt of the system.

the old circ that is about to emerge off the coast around savannah still has some weight to it which means it is still trying to compete with the newly formed circ. that may cause the axis to tilt from SW to NE which is what it is now. to more of a NW -SE tilt.

that might push the newly formed circ inland while another circ takes advantage of the rotational energy and we get another circ farther south and more offshore.

This would really just serve to slow down the classification and allow a little more time over water.

Increasing CAPE in the Bahamas, up to 4500.
Further intensification likely.

When the new circ gets solidly over water it should be able to tighten up quickly.

Well... July 21 is the date to beat for the earliest sixth named storm, whiiiiich I think we might surpass by a little

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Extrapolating from Charleston Sounding taken 1 hour ago, looks like a 20 knot 500mb jet over the CoC.

“A little”...if this becomes Fay tomorrow, it’ll crush that record by almost two full weeks. I have a feeling this won’t be the last record from 2005 that will fall this season.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

The mid-level jet appears more favorable south of Charleston.
Watching a tower, SE of Charleston.

I mentioned it earlier...

but I am becoming increasingly more interested in the remnants of the main circ that are rotating ESE leaving the coast around savannah right now.

although little of it is at the surface anymore. it still has a large 925 mb circulation.

That could very well rotate off the GA coast heading ese then E then as it rotates NE and North it will pick up a lot of vorticity/rotational energy.

So keep an eye on that to see if convection starts to build under it as it exits back over water. if any convergence occurs under it we could easily see that take over quickly as it would have the placement needed to deepen quicker.

:uarrow:

Yeah, pretty favorable environmental conditions with the anticyclone nearly on top of the system.

It should develop today and if 98L can really tap into that Gulf Stream current, it could intensify more than anticipated. Intersting day ahead...

850mb vort swinging out to sea.
Towers circled in red maybe our Huckleberry this afternoon as diurnal pressure begins to drop.
Close-in feeder band from GoM continues to build.
Once convection fires up, anti-cyclone could easily move over this.

A decent hot tower would snap everything in place.
