Re: ATL: ETA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
I know this will sound like a stupid question. I’m in Brevard County right next to the coast and wondering why we are under a Tropical Storm Warning when right in the text it says “Winds will be under tropical storm force”?

Considering driving down to chase in Key Largo, just unsure what the parking garage situation is down there.

I think the weather will deteriorate by this afternoon but how far north it gets before the turn will determine our weather in Broward.

Take card sound Rd is a toll road but you won’t get stuck in traffic if there is actually any.

Winds in the metro will gust 50-70 mph, with isolated tornadoes and a 2-4 ft storm surge on the coast. The main threat is rain, of which 6+ inches have already fallen in spots, with 10+ more on the way. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect, but no hurricane warning.

The key here will be dry air and how much it affects the storm.
What will be the effect of 2 to 4 feet of surge in Miami?

Will accessing garages be an issue itself?

not sure what parking garage you think is in key largo...get yourself a hotel room and get on the 2nd floor, water goes from one side of the key to the other in these situations...you better get down there asap, its going to start flooding real soon and you wont be able to drive on 1Nuno wrote:boca wrote:Nuno wrote:Considering driving down to chase in Key Largo, just unsure what the parking garage situation is down there.

Have never been happy with the idea of a TC stalling and strengthening is the Southeastern gulf. The most likely exit is always NE this time of year. Perhaps the sometimes sensationalist Joe Bastardi was on to something.

We are still at least 12 hours away from the real meat and potatoes of this event in South Florida. Conditions will continue to deteriorate throughout the day. Peak conditions overnight and into the morning on Monday. Considering how tight the pressure gradient is going to get, the TS warnings are warranted, even as far north as Brevard. Bands will continue to rotate in throughout the day and especially in the overnight hours.

Re: ATL: ETA - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Forecast calls for 48 straight hours as a 65kt minimal hurricane. I feel like something's gotta give (mainly degree to which dry air gets entrained) and Eta will end up either significantly weaker or stronger than forecast at some point in there.

You have big bands rotating up into Martin & St. Lucie Counties now, same bands that were down in Broward and Palm Beach earlier. SMWs up for the coastal waters for gusts up to 50 knots (60 MPH) and waterspouts. TS conditions are going to be felt in these bands as they push in.

Of course there will be fluctuations in intensity, a TC rarely holds its strength for long periods of time. NHC can't predict that though so they don't show it.

We are going to set up a YouTube broadcast tonight from Key West.
While I definitely have some anxiety, I am excited that I have a chance to be in the eye, been in eyewalls, never the eye.
