Eta's center heading straight for Upper Malecumbe Key if not Islamorada.

Recon confirms that Eta still has a very well defined LLC, and the pressure has remained in the low 990s. It seems to have a decent structure to work with assuming it doesn’t get torn apart, so I wouldn’t sleep on it just yet.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

The system has nice structure if it could just burst some center convection. As it stands now the best banding and greatest impacts look to be the big bands north of the center aiming at Broward and Palm Beach counties. That is the region that looks to really get creamed over the next few hours.. Localized substantial urban/flash flood risk.

I’m in Pompano Beach, looks like we’re going to get the brunt of that band.

Not only is the left hook happening, convection is starting to fire all the way around the eye. Maybe its trying to strengthen after struggling all day.

Wind gusts in the mid to upper 50s now from Port Everglades to Pompano Beach with that line of squall coming through Broward County.

Yep, you guys going to see the worst of it soon. Based on the deeper reds, I bet you may get gusts in 50’s..

Has a very subtropical look tonight. The dry air really killed the core. Not much around the center now. Pressure hasn't changed, but the pressure gradient has relaxed near the center, such that max winds are closer to 40-45 kts. Max winds may be 60 miles from the center. Very subtropical. Definitely no hurricane tonight. Maybe by Tuesday...

Do they track the little LLC inside the bigger circulation or the center of the big circulation?

Rain has died down for the moment but the wind is steady and consistent now whereas it was gusty on and off most of the day. Pretty chilly wind too.

ETA is starting to pick up convection again heavy squalls on the east side starting to wrap.
East coast Florida got lucky again as this will blow on through overnight without a disaster.
Probably look pretty scary by Tuesday but the next trough will have plenty of dry shear.
