The steering map shows a more NNW movement in store in a few hours.

Hot towers need to keep working their magic to survive.
Storms popping up on the FL coast once the interaction with the circulation could moisten mid levels a bit.

John Morales from channel 6 tweeted yesterday afternoon he didn't see how it would go south of boca based on extrapolation and the setup, he was right. THe channel 6 viewing area will be on the west side of the system, rain bands and breezy conditions is a reasonable forecast IMO.Bimms wrote:Really starting to dislike the Channel 6 Miami weather team. On the news this morning he said the storm has absolutely "no chance of making a landfall" in South Florida. I'm like how can you say that with the shifts we've seen in the tracks. Then he goes on to say how the storm will probably stay in the center of the forecast track and we probably won't see any real effects from the storm besides some off the rain bands. They seem to be super dismissive with every potential storm.

Worst shear now west of FL, this could gain strength as it heads up the east coast.

Good chance it will.
Circulation from Isaias will push that high CAPE air sitting over the Gulf Stream in over the state.

I noticed that last night, those dry westerly winds around h350 is what keep Isaias at bay.
Levi Cowan in great detail showed how robust the blow torch of mid level westerly shear was and how it would hamper Isaias on its approach to the FL peninsula. This is going to be a very dry west side on its way along the FL coast. West side is drier to begin with but even more so with this system. Only a landfall will bring significant effects.

Yes, nice! But is it just me, or does it only play for a minute or so before stopping?

If this map is right it looks like it will make landfall on Andros quite a bit south of NHC track. Is the map on this site correct? http://smartmet.bahamasweather.org.bs/radarcomposite/

Tons of gravity waves on the west side of the dry slot indicating very unstable, moist air.
Any convection that starts filling that dry slot and RI becomes a very real possibility.

Re: ATL: ISAIAS - Hurricane - Discussion
I have to admit, I expected to wake up a few hours ago and see Isaias further west. But appears to be heading more N on the “NW” scale than W, or at least he did overnight. Still going to be a close call here for northern Palm Beach County but doesn’t look to be as close (or a fully inland direct hit) than I was thinking late yesterday. Again, just an opinion based on recent tracking - follow the NHC for exact guidance

Re: ATL: ISAIAS - Hurricane - Discussion
Isaias is about as disorganized a hurricane as I've seen in a while. Hurricane winds only in a small area NE of the center. Center on the western edge of convection. Max wind west of storm only about 60 mph 35-40 miles NW of center. TS winds extend only 40-60 miles west of the center. Terrible satellite presentation. Shear quite evident.
