Is that an eye feature? (On the upper photo)

EDIT: (The bottom photo) That should been a CAT 5, compare it with Irma, Goni, Maria, & Matthew.

Where, exactly, do you see an eye feature?

On the lower left, look closer at the warming at the center of the CDO, that is suspicious for a eye feature.

EDIT: Best one I could find

That's a cool spot of convection, not a warm spot.

I'm morbidly curious as to how far South Eta can go. At this trajectory it looks to be trucking almost back into the NW Caribbean

That's not an eye. That's cold convection, not warm. The eye will always be in the center, not to the S, unless that graphic symbol is wrong and the true center is in that blob...

May go under Cuba - counter clockwise u-turn - goes north back over Cuba - hits Keys or w. coast Florida. Stays in the moist air.

Long range out of key west essentially confirming we have an eye up through the column..

very likely we have a deepening hurricane.

Wow, I can’t believe what I’m seeing.

A strengthening hurricane, if it’s what we see, is what some models like the HMON and HWRF were expecting, maybe might be influenced by the trough and send this back our way.

Who knows at this point, even the NHC is struggling with this.

One factor, that I personally believe that ETA owes it's longevity to, may be the track it has taken, finding just enough sweet spots here and there, to keep enough structure to reenergize, even after traversing the terrain of CA... Cuba and Southern Florida... It's been a roller coaster ride...what's next for ETA?....

6 more to go LOL!

"Late in the week, a non-tropical storm moving through the eastern United States could draw Eta northward across the southeastern U.S.," Pydynowski said.

"However, if Eta misses the connection with this non-tropical storm passing to its north, Eta may then remain in the Gulf of Mexico into the upcoming weekend. At that point, it is possible Eta could continue to meander in the eastern Gulf of Mexico, perhaps drifting slowly to the west or even to the south."

Does anyone know what the record for the longest-lived November storm is? Eta's on day 10 and is forecasted to last at least another 5. A 60-advisory storm in November would be very 2020, to be sure :spam:

I remember Hurricane Marco from 1996 lasted from Nov 13 to Nov 26, as it meandered around erratically in the Caribbean. Perhaps this was one of the longest lived November systems, at least in the modern era. Eta should surpass this one at this rate lol

Since it seems the storm is gaining strength. How long is the storm supposed to moving southwest & could this storm go back NE to FL again considering to might feel the trough or so?
I’m asking because I thought this was dead and if it comes back to FL, how many days should I prepare considering it’s right off the coast.

Well if the center is indeed in the middle of that blob I can see it ramping up pretty quickly. It's even got one of those bands to the west that some powerful TC's develop (not saying it will get that strong). Also, whatever that blob to the north is looks to be fading out.
