If the center doesn’t make landfall in Florida but decides to ride the Gulf Stream all the way up to the Carolinas, it will have a decent shot at strengthening back into a hurricane.

South Florida’s hurricane repellant in full force as you can see the convection just getting shoved back away from the coast as dry air erodes it.

Levi said in his webcast that its actually bringing shear in from the west which at least temporarily keeps the west side of the storm a little drier.

What are you talking about? It has a great shot to strengthen back to cat 1 in the next 12 hours.

I went to the beach an hour ago in Stuart. Fpl is setting up an emergency response unit on the runway at Stuart air field.

This is the gayest (happiest) hurricane I’ve ever seen. Starting to reconsider the storm-proof windows I was about to pay for.

I don’t see that happening given its current structure. It would need to rebuild the inner core basically from scratch at this point which takes maybe 12 hours even without shear. The shear issue will only resolve when the system starts moving N to NNE and aligns with the shear vector.

Pressure is going up, so it’s currently going the wrong way...

They must be resetting these transformers as soon as they trip.

With (per Levi) the 250MB (mid) level shear continuing through the night, there may be bursts but they won't hold. (Blown off again, no vertical stacking). But Levi agrees with the notion that tomorrow daytime when this mid-level shear moves off, staying over water could see him regain his Cat1 power "then".

You mounted a generator on the side of your house? Is that what you are saying?

Yes, in the aftermath of hurricane Wilima we were without power for 3 weeks. We made the decision to install an integrated standby generator from Generac.

LOL. That's hilarious. But why not? Whatever gets you through, right?

I'm confused about why a whole house generator is hilarious? It's a great idea. And Generac has a great name especially in the larger kw class.
