Is it really officially tagged as Invest 90L? It's not up on ATCF.

its doing a pretty good cyclonic loop at the moment. convection building east o fit is likely trying to pull it back.

probably see pretty good burst od convection if it rotates all the way under the convection..

Great upward motion on that meso circulation. Is this early May? I believe it is well on its way. Warm advection to the NE is laying a carpet of energy to tap. If convection can be sustained on the east side...recon should still fly tomorrow.

The doppler velocities in the area ne to the vort from earlier is interesting.. it is starting to show more returns indicating a expanding nw wind.

90L our first ATL invest? Unfortunately looks like it will be the first of many. Hopefully it goes safely OTS.

Trough is starting to quickly sharpen....convection over Cuba is moving eastward....another 12 to 18 hours and a circulation center should be evident.....MGC

What I am most intrigued with is the expansion of the NW winds just above the surface .... the deep convection in green on the right has strong southerly winds and of course the nw winds (red).

surface circ is expanding and trying to tighten up. still broad with multiple vorts but that particular feature is something watch over the next several hours.

It definitely looks quite well in organization on radar and the vort midway between The Keys and the Cuba Coast is trying to tuck underneath the heavier convectiion and it sure looks to me that 90L is on the verge of being classified as a TD or STD soon.

Aric

I am going with true Tropical system, It seems that the low COC is going to develop further sw of the original location being between se Fla and the Bahamas. I think tomorrow it will start to tighten up and be on it's way,

Yeah, I agree I think this cyclone has a really decent chance to spin up, especially as it traverses the Gulf Stream on its approach to the NW Bahamas, and become quite an impressive early season tropical cyclone during this weekend.

Anyone think we’ll see a PTC issued later given its proximity to Florida and the Bahamas?

It’s possible due to that but from there it’s heading OTS so there may not be a need for PTC advisories.

I think shear needs to relax before 90L gets classified. Maybe it’ll get classified tomorrow afternoon after recon gets out there.
