Sometimes that works against the storm too, when it strengthens quickly and then weakens in the day or so leading to landfall. It's the storms that blow up right before landfall that scare me; see Michael for one example.

Had a Tornado warning just north of me, now under a Tornado Watch.

CDO cooling again. Might be the beginning of another round of intensification.

929mb? Is that flight level?

It's a satellite estimate that is incorrect for sfc pressure

CDO cooling and we are heading into DMIN. She is going to make a run at cat 5 right now and recon is in there to capture it. Goosebumps.

Exactly. Storm surge, especially with what is about to materiialize with Laura, is the chief killer of hurricanes! I am extremely worried about this for people out there , like our storm chasers!

Is the rain steady yet? Do you guys lose power quick in storms? I feel like FPL just turns it off once it gusts over TS

Likely just intense banding features. We will see if recon finds double wind maxima on this pass.

I don't see why this won't get to Cat 5, just hope she starts falling back before landfall and not continuously strengthening until after landfall. I just don't want this to be one of the worse storms on record.
