Quick update maybe last one for now. What is happening is historic. The complete destruction of the true Cajun folks homes south here near Cameron.

This entire area is going to be a complete and total disaster. They did not plan correctly. All cops very few linemen for power lines so we can cut a path out and meet the tens of thousands of line trucks, ambulances cutting their way toward us.

Most folks (200) here have NO hurricane experience. They are tornado chasers. This is not chasing tornadoes. I’m chilled out typing and they are hooting and hollering like the wind is big. Son... you ain’t seen big you young whipper-snapper.

Note: No one wears masks. No one. Shaking hands. Police are in one building we are in the next. Went over and briefed where they screwed up. I’m the only one with a 28” Husqvarna chain saw that is Ready to Rock!!!

This may be my last post. It’s getting bad. Expecting 15 ft surge plus waves on top of that. Lake Charles (Lake Chuck!!!) is going to be destroyed.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I choose to think of it as "Jeff is overplaying it for dramatic effect" and "Reed is letting the footage speak for itself".

Jeff consistently has some of the best footage, but I think he talks way too much. It distracts from the spectacle.

OK, but right now Reed's footage seems to consist of watching the traffic lights change. I suppose that's a form of spectacle. Meanwhile, Jeff is reporting the NWS saying 130+ winds about to arrive. I do have Reed muted, though.

I say that about Reed, and he decides to move. Haha.

Different strokes for different folks. I don't need the narration and the constant yelling. I would rather watch the Jeff footage muted and listen to Reed.

Very good timing on the landfall. I think 2-3 days ago they started looking at about 1 am as landfall time. It moved a little after that but it ended up being 1 am after all.

I tire of seeing his ipad though.

Yeah, I don't understand why he's showing radar/sat on the iPad like 90% of the time, we can all see that other places, most people probably want to see the storm outside right behind the iPad.

Someone mentioned "too much Ipad", but the constant radar checks correlated with what's happening on the ground around him are great IMO. Agreed on the yelling, but I can't fault him for his enthusiasm.

Hackberry entering the eye. Holly Beach will go back into the SW eyewall in a little bit. Northern eyewall coming into Lake Charles. Looks like they will end up in the eye after it goes through.

Most of the linemen and others are staged at Coushatta Casino Resort in Kinder, and also in Lafayette. The state doesn't allow people to stage in areas where there are mandatory evacuations. The full Louisiana National Guard has been activated, as soon as this gets all the way gets through they will be out there in force.

Well what a storm Laura has been. In the end, not Hispaniola, not Cuba, not Marco's cold wake, and not even the shear were going to stand in its way. It did what it wanted to do. Remarkable. I hope those affected recover quickly and hope there are no lives lost. God speed.
