Looking good for my area at least, hopefully this is how beta stays. Worrisome though that dmax could be as it is making it's approach to land.

Wow. That dry air sure seems to be doing a number on Beta. Take a look at the size of that outflow boundary near the CoC around the main area of convection that's collapsing now...

Just finishing up dinner at Gaido’s in Galveston. The Gulf is pretty riled up but the water is not high. Our waitress described the water coming over the seawall during Ike and she said: “That’s when it’s time to leave.”

That tight pressure gradient remains, as confirmed by recon. That means Beta can still rapidly intensify or weaken just like we saw today. We need to keep an eye on it in case it tries to do something funny again.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

That had to be the most enormous outflow boundary that I've ever seen! That's more than half the area of Louisiana!

Beta definitely looks like it had a nice, filling dinner of dry air. I’m surprised its pressure gradient is still so well defined. Gotta watch for another burst of convection around Dmax.

Recon flight level dew points spiked over a short period near the center so you would expect a few pixels of hot tower as the outflow condenses into cold cloud tops. The WV is already at altitude just hasn't chilled yet.

This really looks like another Don situation. Texas dry air vs Tropical Storm, the sequel.

This storm is already wetter than Don. I remember my uncle was down in Rockport when it was heading towards the coast and he said it never even rained. I already had about 0.5 inches of rain today. I don't remember ever getting rain from Don.

Lot of smoke to the west, is that playing any part?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a storm rise and fall so rapidly without land interaction. Today has been one of the most interesting days of the season to me.

Looks like it is completely falling apart, was not expecting this. Could it dissipate before it even makes it in land?
