A good deal of rain in Florida. Anyone wants to report from that state?

ATL: CRISTOBAL - Tropical Storm - Discussion

#3 Postby Steve » Sat Jun 06, 2020 9:20 am

Shaking off the cobwebs this morning. First rain is moving in now from almost due east. Just a little light drizzle to signal what’s ahead. No offense to anyone over on the Coast, you know I love y’all. But y’all have sandier soil there leaving me hoping landfall is somewhat closer to me like Grand Isle than farther west into Terrebonne or St. Mary. That east side feed moisture looks like it’s going to be around for many hours for whoever gets stuck under it. With a S-N flow and a Northward forward motion, that looks to train hard rather than rotate. I’m going to try to be around through tomorrow night with a couple naps in between.

Light drops but a little heavier now. Breeze is light but picking up with this shower moving on.

Ft Walton Beach Cam shows it’s raining over that way.

Was a bit surprised by the wind gust (25mphish) we just had here in Miramar Bch. with some brief heavy rain, that heavy rain may have brought down some winds just aloft.

Getting squally here in Pensacola. Winds have increased in the last few hours (just breezy, gusts to 20mph). Rainbands moving in and out. Definitely feels like the outskirts of a tropical storm.

Rain's been off and on the last hour or two. Looks like some heavier stuff is on the way:

https://radar.weather.gov/ridge/radar.p ... X&loop=yes

I'm thinking it's likely that it rains here off and on the next 24 hours, but we'll see. I've been spending most of my time on my porch which faces east, so it's been cool to follow the sky along with the radar. Cristobal more than any storm I can remember smells of the sea. And sometimes you forget the sounds of the rustling wind before it howls and rain heavy, light, dripping in spouts, all that. Things get tense then relax as a band goes through. I've seen random flocks of birds flying overhead. They always have them, but it's ones I can't identify.

Reporting in from Extreme SE MS. Wind and plenty of rain here. Wind started at about 3 and the wind came shortly thereafter. Looking at the the system in it's current state, I'm not expecting a ton of wind, but lots of rain. We're in zone "X" so should be fine in regards to that. Brand new development so we'll see how the irrigation holds up, I suspect.

My singular concern with this system is that it does something completely out of right field like stall once it hit land and just grow. These GoM storms do silly things and Cirstobal has been a strange one. Still potentoal to dump a ton of rain IMO. Come noon I'll be sitting in my garage with my recliner, a full cooler, and the door open. I'll post some pics if it gets exciting enough.

Here in Biloxi it's been raining all morning. It shifted up a notch in the last 30 minutes. Winds are not bad. I see tops of trees swaying but not so much ground level.

We are getting drenched again this morning in Tallahassee! A band with some big thunderstorms is moving through. The retention ponds are filling up fast. I don’t think we’re gonna be in a drought after this rain!

Good Morning Friends,

Since I woke up, we've had light rain with a nice breeze. No flooding inside the levee system. Of course, outside the system in places like Cocodrie and lower Dulac, we currently have the usually flooding that is expected.

The rainfall totals in my area since Saturday Morning thru noon today. Some areas near Perry were nearing 10 inches. With the continued downpour, many of those areas have likely exceeded 10 inches. We’re at over 5 inches now in Tally.
