A broken clock is right twice a day so I should have one more good call coming  Right when I think 96L was pretty much a guarantee to be Kyle the shear really starts kicking in lol. I still think we will get Kyle though.

I would be quite surprised if we didn’t see (Sub)Tropical Depression 12 at 5pm.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

We have Kyle!  https://twitter.com/NHC_Atlantic/status/1294368447573323777

Also breaks Katrina's record as the earliest K storm by 10 days. :double:

The Atlantic continues to take scattered convection with broad vorticity and blow it up into a full fledged tropical storm in a 24-36 hour span, in an unfavorable MJO phase, with dry air present, a month before peak season. If that ain't an omen I don't know what is.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

The Atlantic gives 0 damns about there being a not very favorable MJO setup right now. Late August through September is going to be nuts...

Pretty legit looking apart from the lack of convection west of the center.

Headed for Bermuda as requested.

Better be careful with flushing the toilet, the swirl might move offshore and develop.

Just like that, Kyle is here. Another record bites the dust...next one is the only record left not held by 2005, Luis of 1995 (August 29). Given what I'm seeing on the EPS we might blow that one out of the water as well.

Again, seems like every little thing wants to spin up this year. Very much a testament to the favorability of the Atlantic I feel. I dread what we'll see once that CCKW/MJO combo arrives...

Just ten names to go to carry us through the second half of August and into peak and beyond, I think the Greeks are pretty much inevitable at this point lol

Wow, we haven't even gotten to peak season yet and half the names are already gone. It's August 14...

Tropical Storm Kyle is the earliest named K storm in the Atlantic, surpassing Katrina in 2005 by 10 days (formed on August 24th, 2005). The next record, Luis, formed on August 29th 1995.

Edit: corrected to Luis 1995

I believe Luis of '95 holds that record, not Lee.

Given that every single puff of clouds wants to spin up this year, imagine what happens when conditions actually become favorable 10 days from now.
