Reminds me a lot of Chantal in 2019. I guess future Kyle will be the one ringing the bell for 2020 like Chantal did last year. :D

The meat of the season officially begins one week from now! I hope the season doesn't end up being too devastating, but it's 2020, and all signs unfortunately point to a sleepless few months ahead.

If this does become Kyle, that’s one step closer to Nana becoming a Big One this year.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

That would be the most 2020 thing ever.

I just hope Marco doesn't get axed this year (although it's looking quite dangerous at this point), because we need Marco for Polo in the EPAC. We haven't gotten them at the same time yet, and I'm pretty sure that was the intent of the people who first created this name list. :lol:

Even during the less favorable portions of the MJO

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

Another great thread by Papin tonight on 96L. Apologies in advance for the slight tweet spam.

These are the links to the thread that Papin's tweet posted by cycloneye retweeted earlier.

Excuse my apparent ignorance but if Kyle is next, and Laura follows that one, how does "Nana" (a second straight female name) follow? Just curious.

8 AM TWO:

Shower activity has increased in association with a low pressure
area located about 100 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras, North
Carolina. Some additional development is possible during the next
couple of days, and a tropical or subtropical depression could form
during that time as the system moves east-northeastward well
to the southeast of New England and to the south of the Canadian
Maritime provinces.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...40 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent.

Very frontal looking, but it does not have the usual dry air problems storms this close to the continent usually have. I definitely could see it develop banding and be classified as an STS.

Agreed. If it can lose some of that frontal appearance I think there is a high likelihood we with end up with Kyle. As it gets more East I think it will break away and become its own entity.

Solid warm core with a small boundary layer inversion.

Pretty legit looking apart from the lack of convection west of the center.

Yes this looks classifiable to me a bit of elliptical circulation but t-storms should be close enuf to coc to classify maybe pure tropical to start.
