Yeah, you're right. I guess I don't know what the criteria are anymore. I would think there would have to be some kind of continuity of circulation (whether low or mid-level) but apparently not.

Shower activity has decreased in association with a trough of low
pressure located over the central Atlantic about 800 miles
east-southeast of Bermuda. This system is expected to move
west-southwestward into a region of strong upper-level winds and
development is not expected.

The remnants of Paulette finally died today. They had hung on as a weak, low level swirl through yesterday, but this morning they were indistinguishable from the background, and the area of clouds where they were is getting pulled into a front.

The wave that became Paulette emerged off the Africa coast 35 days ago.
