Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Storm - Discussion
There have been so many systems this season developing or strengthening in the face of adverse conditions (Isaias, Laura, Omar, and Paulette come to mind). And then there is Rene which struggled in seemingly favorable conditions. LOL

Not an meteorologist! Just someone who is interested in weather. Please refer to the NHC and local weather officials to make decisions.

Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Looks like some convection is finally returning to Rene. Even if that lasts, I definitely don't see him getting to the hurricane status he was supposed to have in previous forecasts.

Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Rene is nothing more than a little ball of convection. It’s almost kinda cute.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Rene keeps looking so pitiful, and then it bursts. Very resilient.

Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Storm - Discussion
I’m curious what Rene’s gonna do after it loops back west. So much could happen depending on if it could find favorable conditions again in the long range so I won’t be surprised if Roly Poly Rene rolls around for a while.

Nah, Rene lost all of its convection with only 10 kt of shear. That doesn't really sound all that resilient to me
...but then again, I don't have any better names for it

Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Depression - Discussion
Interesting to see models wanting to take whatever vorticity is left of Rene SW for a few days starting about 24 hours from now. Rene will probably just disappear, but it would be comic irony if it manages to reincarnate N of the GA.

I hope Rene sticks around (maybe even bumps back up to TS) long enough for us to get Teddy named... maybe even Vicky.

Re: ATL: RENE - Tropical Depression - Discussion
Nah, Rene needs to stay alive just long enough for 97L to develop into TD 21 - so we can have 5 concurrent Atlantic systems. Then it can go.
