That's a rare sight. What a beauty of a storm.

Looks like a mini Dorian on infrared. That is an exceptionally symmetrical CDO and clear eye for a system at 30N in mid-late October.

It's still a part of extratropical-like flow that gives it that hybrid look.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

The core of the system finally looking like a classic tropical cyclone.

Epsilon really doesn’t want to turn north. Recon shows it’s still tracking WNW.

All this while the would-be Caribbean beast couldn't get going over 30°C waters and powderkeg OHC.

I think Epsilon might be done with intensification. Recon is now showing much change. It seems that Epsilon has achieved the maximum intensity possible for its location.

Not only has Epsilon really been moving almost due West the past few hours, in the last few frames it's wobbling in a way which makes it seem like the core temporarily stalled

Forecast to stay well east of Bermuda, and with that symmetrical presentation I'm glad it is staying away from land.

This might just be one of my favourite storms ever! Some of the satellite images with the huge curved band have been awesome, combined with the unexpected intensity is amazing to watch. And all of this, with little to no impacts on land (apart from some winds in Bermuda of course) which is a huge bonus. Weather-watching at its finest

One wild card: could it take on an annular-like appearance and hold up better in the near future?

Even if it’s peaking rn, this is still one of the top most impressive storms in the sub-tropics this time of the year. Sure Ophelia 2017 was farther NE, but Epsilon is later in the year and has a lower pressure than Ophelia’s peak!
