Well suffice to say Grace definitely performed; wow what a cane. One of the earliest season majors in many years if I remember right.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

So that makes it the first major of the season

First major hurricane two weeks ahead of climatology, on bell day no less.

With Henri likely becoming a hurricane tomorrow, we'll be at 8/3/1 on August 21, essentially an entire average season pre 1995 already; how anyone can even attempt to claim this season is undeperforming is beyond my capacity to understand.

Me neither. For us to get a major, RI hurricane this early in the season imho is a very glaring warning sign for things to come. If anything it indicates that regardless of what happens in the MDR, the Western Atlantic is ready to produce some nasty and powerful cyclones with that super high UOHC and 30-31 C waters. Season canceled is now canceled.

Unless explicitly stated, all information covered in my posts is based on my opinions and observations. Please refer to a professional meteorologist or an accredited weather research agency otherwise, especially if serious decisions must be made in the event of a potentially life-threatening tropical storm or hurricane.

Could be the strongest storm to make landfall in Mexico since Patricia 2015 and the strongest from the Atlantic since Dean 2007

What are the chances of Grace reaching category four just before landfall? It’s at 120, so it only needs another 10 mph.

Major Hurricane Grace

8-2-1

Just to think a week ago we weren't sure if this system would even survive Hispaniola. Hoping everyone is hunkered down.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Worth noting last year, the most active season on record, was sitting at just two hurricanes (none stronger than category one) on August 21, so yeah, it's pretty brow-raising lol

Speaking on behalf of the MDR supremacists: BOC is the one magical spot in the entire basin that always favor TC genesis and intensification. Even in hostile years like 2013 it managed to produce the only hurricane in the Western Atlantic of that year. So until wet get a major out of open tropics, the season-cancelled season shall continue

I believe this is the earliest major since 2009. Wow what a storm. Hopefully there will be no fatalities from it. I can't believe my 100kt prediction was too low...

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.

Very fortunate that this didn't have another 24 hours over water or else we might have been looking at another Historic GOM Cane.

One thing interesting to me, is that this is a storm much bigger than Stan, Karl, and Katia, in my opinion. This is going to really hurt, and Poza may see the worst outside of the immediate shore. Bet even Tuxpam is getting slammed.

I was just thinking that. Crazy how quickly things change in the tropics.
