It's a shame we have to wait so long for recon. This seems to be organizing quite well today.

I think 94L will go well south of where I am, St Maarten. But we are on alert.
This is a recent update from one of our meteorologists:

"Quick 2pm Tropical Update -- Mon 9 Aug 2021:
...Effects to SSS Islands from tonight...
The tropical wave approaching the Eastern Caribbean now has a high (80%) chance of developing -- most likely by tonight.
> This system could develop into a tropical depression within short notice -- as it approaches the local region.
> Regardless of development: Showers, Gusty Winds, High Seas, Thunder/Lightning, and possible Street-Flooding are expected tonight into Tuesday across the SSS Islands (St. Maarten-Saba-St. Eustatius).
...Effects can be felt from this afternoon for other islands -- especially the Southern Caribbean.
> We will continue to monitor its progress ."

Also Meteo France has the French part of the island under yellow vigilance for heavy rains and thunderstorms

Looking at things, a ptc designation is probable but this could certainly qualify as a depression

:sadly: What??? I can't think of any historical, geographical, or chronological connection between 94L and Wilma. The only thing in common might be that neither system originated from Subtropical origin? You must have been trying to make a point before the squirrel ran across the yard :cheesy:

I am guessing that they will not upgrade it to a TD due to no recon?

Only reason I could see holding off on the PTC designation might be NHC confidence of probably upgrading this to TD status at 5:00pm anyway.

Edit: LOL, well scratch that thought. Just saw the post from 3 minutes ago about PTC @ 5:00PM

I think it was an attempt at humor being that Fred and Wilma were the husband and wife from the Flintstones

Anyway back to the 94L. Looks quite impressive but to soon to tell what if anything will impact South Florida but it is a sign that the meat of the hurricane season is around the corner

You haven't looked hard enough Chaser.

You are certain that there is no historical connection between Fred and Wilma?

The 5PM Track may put Florida in or close to the cone. (Keys and/or South Florida)

Fred & Wilma. Flintstones.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.
