It'll be interesting to see what the 18Z runs show, if they also see what the Euro is forecasting off of the mid-Atlantic coast.

Lots of lightning strikes in the feeder band west of Jamaica but core inflow was disrupted by Maxaya peak last night. New core feature drilling down from the midlevels could take till western Cuba to bloom. They are tracking something moving NW now?

:D :ggreen: :ggreen: At this point, I just want Elsa to just disappear. Shear, dry air, land, anybody. Just get rid of this nonsensical storm lurking in the Atlantic. I look forward to later this month or August when we get to track a system that behaves more straightforwardly.

Elsa is, by far, the most convoluted hurricane I've ever actively observed

Oof, that doesn’t sound fun.

Well Elsa seems to have an eye on visible. Recon won’t leave until 4pm, so we have no idea if it’s still a 1010+ mbar anomaly or if it has actually strengthened.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Euro strengthens the Bermuda High just enough to keep it out in the Gulf and clear of Sanibel Island...Elsa then turns towards Florida after passing Sanibel...

There are a lot of words to describe Elsa, but quitter isn't one of them. After all the setbacks she had so far I thought there wouldn't be much more than a tropical wave by now but she's actually still trying to get organized.

Elsa is a weird one it has the ghost banding and structure of much more dangerous storms but the guts, when measured, show the opposite...

Huge 2020 similarities with the bevy of "weaker" early season storms that just do not quit even when it looks otherwise

I think if that happens its because of the traugh moving across tampa. And a slight weakness in the ridge.
