Sadly, no. Earlier reports that approx 28 people stayed. At least 11 sought shelter at police bunker.

We just had six posts referencing the police chief from Grand Isle stating that 10-20 people stayed along with his police force.

Reported that 28 stayed along with 24 first responders. 15 of the residents made it to the sheriff's office to hunker down.

ETA - the camera there just had a few waves cross the top of it.

Looks like Grand Isle is going to get the worst of the storm surge worst of the winds are going to a little further to the west though.

Looks like that Grand Isle camera will be underwater soon. I hope I'm wrong.

Just a reminder- we don’t know why these people weren’t able to evacuate. And Covid is rampant. Please be considerate.

Agreed. If you look there are 58 "guests" here, meaning people who are most likely not registered Storm2ers looking for information about this storm. Be careful about the impression you give those folks. They read what you post without any of the context long time readers can understand.

We all know that you truly cannot force someone to evacuate unless you kidnap them, which would be a crime. They are free to make the choice to stay in their home and we all hope & pray for a good outcome.

as we have seen many times the past two years...good luck forcing anyone to do anything they don't want to do no matter what the risks are
