Looks like New Orleans is going to avoid the worst of this.

It seems so rare to get a daytime land-falling major. Mark's remote cams, and those of Severe Studios (link below) have been incredible.

Brandon Copic has decided to help change a tire in the the garage at Houma while the eye wall is almost there. Unbelievable! Anyone else have a cam in Houma?

The center of ida appears to be stationary at this point. Is the westward progression ending early?

Katrina did NOT strengthen over the Everglades. It weakened into a tropical storm over Monroe County, and didn't regain hurricane status until it was over the Gulf.
my bad, you are correct with regard to windspeed...it became a hurricane just an hour or two before landfall, was downgraded to a trop storm but regained hurricane status just an hour after leaving Florida so it didn't strengthen, it just barely weakened, in fact I think it was basically the same mb's and then within an hour of leaving the coast, it deepened like 10 mb's so its core was not affected at all

Just like Jon Snow..."I know nothing" except what I know, and most of what I know is gathered by the fine people of the NHC

After watching 21 frame slide, it does appear the last 7 frames have no NW progress, I am wondering if the turn more north will start

Last few frames on radar look to be slowing or maybe eye contracting… perhaps the N turn happening?

It's not the wind, it's the water.

I need to take a break. So sorry if I've been monopolizing the discussion today. I just have plenty of free time to share interesting tweets from my weather list on Twitter... Hope it's been of interest. I'll be back sometime this evening.

The eye has become larger on satellite as if the eye wall replacement cycle has nearly completed. This is amazing.
