Agreed. There's been a trend today of posting unsourced tweets as evidence of xyz happening.

Thats just how media works now unfortunately.

Ok, it’s late and everyone’s adrenaline is running high after this unforgettable day of watching Ida come in.

The point has been made a few times throughout the day about reporting information that comes from reputable sources and/or sourcing it. That’s true for all of us on S2K, especially now since the situation is critical on the ground in Louisiana and so many guests are reading and watching what gets posted here.

Let’s all take a deep breath and get back to Ida. Thank you to everyone for participating today and helping to make Storm2K the great resource that it is!

Will someone please post location of storm and conditions? Have generator electric but cell service is spotty and net/cable is out. Takes forever to just load one page of the forum. If someone would post that info each page it would mean to world to me. Likely need description. Images may not load. We hanging in there but things are bad.

Just got data back in Western New Orleans. This chase really went nuts fast. Not sure the exact path through the eyewall, but we got absolutely slammed at the hotel, palm tree snapping level winds. Went through the ringer, but it finally seems to be getting calmer. It's still dark, but from what I've made out the damage is pretty bad. Lots of snapped power lines and ripped up roofs. Hopefully anyone else out there in Ida is doing well, she didn't pull punches.

We are safe here in Mandeville. Lost a large portion of my fence, a large branch wrecked my chicken coup, and we lost enough shingles to allow some water to drip into the attic. Relative to what’s going on out there right now, I feel lucky. Fiancé hasn’t gone into labor and now we let the rest of this pass, get comfortable, then start to clean up.

If I remember, you're between Hammond and Baton Rouge.
Depending where you're at, you probably have +/- an hour to get what's left of the eye to cross over you.

The eye has really degraded over the past couple of hours; there's no real 'eye' left on radar..
The NE quadrant is still the strongest. Much of the heavy precipitation on the south side of the storm has diminished.
You're probably seeing the worst of it now on the northern and northeastern side.
When you get the backside of the storm, the winds and precipitation should decrease.

I doubt it...FEMA will run an emergency line of some sorts to replace the transmission tower. 2 Weeks maybe

Back during Hugo, FEMA didn't help restore major wide spread power here

In regard to the Cajun Navy, please know there are multiple groups that go by that name; not all are the same and some are for- profit businesses. Be careful who you work with or donate to. I would recommend only using or advertising groups that hold an active 501c3. Cajun Navy 2016 and Cajun Navy Relief both hold a 501c3 and are nonprofits.

Isn't that the same town the major pleaded YESTERDAY for his residents to evacuate? Is that Susan Roesgen post just a "joke" or troll?

The curse of the "I" storm and 99L remain intact. Also, score one for another of these grungey/smudgey beast storms that blossom into terrifying beauty as they near land (and peak intensity)... Michael, Laura and Ida all qualify. Just amazing.

Amen! One fake group was exposed after Harvey and have wondering if they were ever caught.

Rail Dawg here. First storm since Katrina I did not chase.

You might think I’m lying but I live on a gold mine in Northern Nevada. I simply could not chase Ida or spend any time watching this thread. Winters come quick to mining camps here.

All of you are wonderful scientists. I do pray for SE Louisiana especially because Houma was a second home when I chased. My most powerful chase was the inner eyewall of Michael. 185mph gusts. It was incredible. Incredible.

So much going on. Remember to stock up on food no matter where you live.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

She’s a blue check verified Twitter account and the on-air anchor at WGNO TV. Watched a steaming broadcast tonight.
