Seems like Tauktae is having a last minute bit of structural improvements before landfall. The eye is clearer than before.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Significant clearing of the eye just before landfall. Tauktae is now overland

"Rain and gusty winds" is an understatement in this video...

The Severe Cyclonic Storm “Tauktae” (pronounced as Tau’Te) over Saurashtra moved north-northeastwards with a speed of about 10 kmph during past 06 hours, weakened into a Cyclonic Storm and lay centred at 1130 hours IST of today, the 18th May, 2021 over Saurashtra near latitude 22.0°N and longitude 71.5°E, about 50 km northeast of Amreli, 80 km south of Surendranagar and 165 km southwest of Ahmedabad.
It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and weaken gradually into a Deep Depression during next 06 hours and into a Depression during the subsequent 06 hours. The remnant of the system is very likely to move north-eastwards across Rajasthan to west Uttar Pradesh during 19th & 20th May.

Tauktae’s BT was revised and it now has a peak intensity of 120 kt. However, I don’t know what the BT JTWC pressure estimate was changed to; it was originally 939 mbar for peak winds of 115 kt.

It seems like that the storm was seriously underestimated . . .

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

120kts/935mb seems about right for me, although I didn't follow this storm all too closely besides BT updates and a few glances at sat imagery since we're in peak severe season and I'm mainly focused on that

I am in no way a professional. Take what I say with a grain of salt as I could be totally wrong. Please refer to the NHC, NWS, or SPC for official information.
