In the last hours the low level center temporarily relocated under the southwest part of the convection, but it became exposed again by now. The earlier mentioned ship measured minimum pressure of 1008.6 hPa at 18 UTC which was similar to the weather station in Tobruk, but the srongest winds were only around 20 kt However, another nearby ship reported 35 kt wind as well at 18 UTC. Somewhat surprisingly, the evening ASCAT pass again measured maximum winds around 40-45 kt and in a larger area than yesterday.

After lack of any significant convection almost all yesterday, the cyclone produced a last burst of deep convection last night before it made landfall in Turkey, near Alanya, where the pressure dropped to 1004.3 hPa at 03 UTC. https://www.ogimet.com/cgi-bin/gsynres?ind=17310&lang=en&decoded=yes&ndays=1&ano=2021&mes=11&day=02&hora=12
However, satellite images suggest that the cyclone interacted with an upper level trough and it had some frontal appearance on the eastern side, and the FSU phase diagram also showed deepenig cold core since yesterday, so it maybe not was fully tropical. In the other hand, the deep convection persisted until the landfall near/over the center, and the yesterday evening's ASCAT pass still showed a compact, well-defined circulation - although it was a bit elongated to the north.

Is official? Did they classify it as TS or SB prior to the TD? is it possible to see it? Thanks

That is a forecast from the UK Met Office, and they officially declared Apollo as a tropical storm, like the other systems in the last year.

Edit: Europa non è lontana preceded me a little. :)

this was an incredible system to track.

I am by no means a professional. DO NOT look at my forecasts for official information or make decisions based on what I post.

Goal: to become a registered expert over tropical and subtropical cyclones.

I was just thinking that this was probably the longest-lasting Mediterranean TC in the satellite era, and lasted longer than 14 Atlantic TCs did this year.

Long develop (I Think subtropical on the first two days). In September and early October the Mediterranean was warmer than usual. I'm sure if Apollo had happened in September we could have seen a long term Category 1 hurricane. Unfortunately, Apollo developed after various disturbances that nullified the anomaly. In various places the Med was even colder than normal during Apollo developed. .

Yes, its lifetime was even longer than Ianos in last year. According to my preliminary estimation, it was subtropical or tropical storm for 6 and 3/4 days while Ianos lasted only for 5 and 3/4 days. However, I count this lifetme in two parts: the first is between 18 UTC 25 October and 06 UTC 27 October and the second is between 00 UTC 28 October and 06 UTC 02 November, while it was a convection-less, post-tropical low for 18 hours between the two periods. Since it has some uncertainties in the exact time of the transitions, the final duration can be said after the reanalyzes are completed, but I think it will not be much different.

Here is my estimation, and since it mainly based on ship reports, the wind and pressure data likely will not change very much (the final date is 00 UTC today here because visible satellite animations and surface observations suggested that the low level center dissipated near 06 UTC).

I thought you would start the tropical phase from 12: 00 on October 30th or maybe from 06:00 am on 29th :?:

How about? is this chart reliable?
Show a tropical or subtropical? (At least at that moment)

The Mediterranean subtropical system (Apollo) was one of the longest lasting ones I can recall - almost 10 days. It also developed tropical characteristics for a time while it was close to Sicily and Malta:

This PV structure is more common in case of tropical cyclones than subtropicals. Its PV-tower isn't connect to the upper level PV anomalies and it also have a nearly straight vertical axis.
