This storm looks quite large. It came together fast for such a large system.

Microwave imagery from 18z shows a gigantic dominant outer band. However, IR imagery from the last six hours suggests the convection closest to the LLC is becoming dominant.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

This is quite a large storm. Models seem to be hinting at a loop and head towards the Philippines. But by doing that it may end itself from upwelling cold water.

Yes, 1-min winds likely make this a typhoon. JMA is the official RSMC for the West Pacific. They consider only 10-min winds, so it's still officially a tropical storm.

It may stall for a bit in 3-4 days as it is briefly blocked by high pressure to the north (and weakens significantly), but it's not heading back to the Philippines.

Nyatoh’s eyewall has been slowly improving. It’s gonna be one big eye if it ever clears.
