Just for completeness let’s get a TS watch from Jupiter inlet to Ocean Reef guys. I think it’s the only part of Florida that doesn’t have one

Lol I’m feeling a little left out down here! There’s a little bit in the panhandle without one too.

11 more MPH’s until it’s a Major. I’ll be surprised if if Ian is not a major by the 11 PM Advisory. How long until landfall on the Cuban mainland?

I bet you're gonna get some nasty bands in the near future, at the very least. 8-)

NHC track is precisely on top of mine. They have it at 100 kts west of southern Tampa Bay and 75 kts 12 hrs later when it's west of the northern part of Tampa. Moves very slowly right near the coast. Very bad for Tampa area. Time for a break, been going 13 hrs.

Ian sure looks like it's dealing with double eyewalls. It's especially evident on IR imagery.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Same, here in Jupiter and they cut off the TS warning right at the inlet lol

Get some rest. Don't spend your break looking at satellite imagery. :P There's a loooot of hours between now and when it reaches Tampa.

IR is just not a good way to analyze the eyewall unless the eye has completely cleared, which Ian hasn't.

Very intense convection on the southern part of the CoC. Cloud Tops at least -90°C.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Definitely is, for the moment. I’m guessing that whichever eyewall that massive burst to the south wraps into is the one that’s going to become dominant. Looking at visible, that looks to be the inner to me

The CDO has become more symmetrical with the dry slot all but gone judging by the visual. I'm guessing some real intensification is in store now.

The consensus is ian will cross florida between cape coral and tampa (imo). Kinda crazy to think how we're back in the cone and have a tropical storm watch (vero beach, fl)

Just ignore the flagged 170 knot SMFR from NOAA3 because it flew over Cuba. :D

Air Force and NOAA recon will be in there at the same time. Should get a really good visual of rapid intensification over the next several hours.
