Because according to the models it seems to track pretty close to Indian River County on the east coast. Add in being on the "dirty" side of the storm as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Treasure and Space Coast get hurricane warnings added tonight.

Was that the year when they had constant issues?

Before we know it we'll have 24/7 UAV coverage in these things I suppose.

Looks like that the tornado near Davie just lifted, PDS signature gone.

Winter 2020-2021 :cold:

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

I believe the Miss Piggy mission was an unscheduled one, but they needed to move the plane out of Tampa so they made a single pass in between.

I was gonna say that lol. But Eta was the only one of the two with recon issues; Iota went pretty normally IIRC.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Yes, the year that they not only didn’t upgrade eta to a category five but also downgraded iota from a five to a four, and we spent so long without a plane in either storm at important points because they kept having issues over and over and over again.

Maybe it was Laura where they also had plane issues, I just remember to importance storms that year, eta being one of them having plane issue after plane issue.

When's the next mission? Kind of looks like it'll be onshore in 10-12 hours with the direction of motion

When’s the next scheduled flight? Hopefully it doesn’t end up turning back like AF309.

More intense convection at the eyewall. And a LOT of lightning.
