Looks like it landfalls around Port Charlotte, the 24 hour position is inland southeast of Tampa

It could just be my eyes playing tricks on me but it looks like Ian wobbled slightly to the east on Key West's IR Radar.

The fact that it's slowing down that much makes it obvious that it is about to make its turn for its "final approach."

Ian has been wobbling around, most of the models showed this slight northward jog before hooking into the coast near Sanibel/Port Charlotte

It's always possible that the strengthening phase is done... Looks like it's getting pretty close to the coast on radar...

ATL: IAN - Hurricane - Discussion

#4228 Postby Sanibel » Wed Sep 28, 2022 2:31 am

I'm exhausted, but I made it off Sanibel at 1:30am with no surge on the Causeway...Some torrential rains and gusts...Turned off water at the street with T bar...Put $300 of food from refrigerator in a lawn bag and tied it shut with cord...Nailed shut crawl space door on 2nd floor because the wind will get through the soffit and punch it right open...Secured all shutters and stay bars...That was a job and then I had to remember nick nacks and save-ables while exhausted...Pulled tools and equipment up from ground level garage...Still category 3...

Ian has been wobbling to the N the last few hours, however that last few radar frames look to be wobbling back to the NNE

It’s forecasted to wobble north, even NNW for a short bit before eventually making the turn to the right later this morning.

So what we are seeing currently are the final wobbles before the “final approach.”

IR presentation is starting to improve, and the eye has become more circular on radar as well. Also looks to be back on the NNE movement, the eyewall is making eastward progress towards Sanibel once again.
