Reminds me of Ian the night before its Cuba landfall. This is how it looked like:

Geez, everything I quoted there about its Cuba landfall applies equally well to right now.

Yep, you called it. I knew this was on point when I saw the SE eyewall’s radar reflectivity trying to catch up with the NW eyewall’s reflectivity a little after 2am CDT. Great catch!

I wish I could hit a dislike button here. Two months ago, I was casting a fly line for snook running along the Sanibel Island beaches. Sobering to think about the conditions that are there now…

I would imagine the flight crews are taking a little extra time, in planning their safest approach into Ian, and back out...

Can I get a solid update from y'all about what is going on? Intensity, when landfall, is it strengthening further past 155? I just woke up and am a little behind atm....

Landfall will be within the next couple hours it looks like. Intensity is between 155-160mph but the impacts will be the same regardless of the category number. Recon plane is on the way to try to get a pass in before landfall

Be careful man. I will be on the northern eyewall if the right hook doesn't happen. Good luck!

The South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island looks like it will get the full wrath of Ian's eyewall. :(

ATL: IAN - Hurricane - Discussion

Ian moving in for the kill now on Sanibel...Hard eyewall hammering my house as I type while safely evacuated...We have a screwed and glued pyramidal tin roof that should give Ian a challenge if he doesn't wear it down with duration...
