It’s a major land-falling hurricane. 100%

Multiple 190-205mph bins 7.5k feet up. These have been consistent for hours.

Fully up to date on windstorm and flood insurance...

I've watched these things for years and saw this one coming...A relative didn't take me seriously when I warned him and he just made it off with his wife...

I lost my home, everything in it, and all of my vehicles in Harvey. It was a nightmare, but my family survived. If he is safe, that's the most important thing.

I was so hopeful that even if Ian got strong, that shear and dry air would drop it down when it made landfall. It's a cruel joke that we're getting the first and not the second.

Cantore is sleep deprived or something. He just said you could fit Charley inside of Ian's eye. :?:

What is that "trail" of white clouds heading NE in front of Ian? Is that the cold front that's going to steer him out of here?

I'd be highly shocked if he's not.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Reminds me of NIO's Cyclone Sidr in 2007

I lived in Houston for Harvey.

Spent 3 days and nights in my 22’ aluminum boat rescuing folks in river conditions.

My hat is off to the Cajun Navy. Those guys are relentless.

Although I have been a hurricane forecaster since 1980 that only means I've been wrong lots of times.

There was an image earlier that had Charley's eye and eyewall easily fitting within Ian's eye, probably with about 50% of the eye still being clear!

Charley was a pretty small storm to be fair.

A real somewhat funny story - My middle son is named Ian. He’s 11 and very into meteorology like I am. Has his own weather station. He was incredibly thrilled to have this storm as his namesake until a day ago when it hit him the amount of people will be harmed. Also - his 12th birthday is Saturday and he realized he may have unknowingly wished himself a birthday with no power.
