The GFS running much closer to the Baja peninsula, when it gets near the end it will be pulling 50 mph winds over the hills of San Diego. This a hi res gfs pulled using a grib browser.

Tough to get watches with the NHC track. GFS and CMC runs are basically the only solutions that would warrant watches/warnings.

My local met has been showing the euro bringing, in his words, a “potential significant weather event related to this tropical moisture of kay” idk how much truth there is to it

Correct, the models in general do show a lot of rain for SD/Imperial/Yuma counties. The difference is that only the GFS shows decent TS winds for SD.

00z GFS shows TS force gusts for SD lasting 24 hours.
