The eye is now passing over Cape Sata, at the southern tip of the Osumi Peninsula, Kyushu. A lighthouse there recorded a pressure of 938mb (not sure if SLP) and wind speeds of 40 m/s (78kts) before landfall.

Nanmadol made landfall over Kagoshima City about an hour ago according to JMA. The center passed over a JMA station (blue dot) and recorded a min SLP of about 940mb, and although winds were not particularly intense, there was still a notable lull observed in the center of the storm.

JMA should soon recognize that Nanmadol is no longer even close to being a TS. Its circulation is nearly gone, merged with a cold front. JMA is forecasting it to remain a TS for 24 more hours????
