5:11 PM EST

I’m in Sanford, Florida about twenty miles north of Orlando and maybe two miles or so west of Interstate 4.

Winds are picking up now with consistent tropical storm force gusts.

Rain has been a steady drizzle all day and there is A LOT of local concern about flooding. Irma left a real mess around the lakes/rivers and in older city areas with poor drainage, this is supposed to be worse.

Fortunately, I’m not on a flood zone and in the 8 years I’ve lived in the area there have been no instances of flooding in my area.

We still have power, but I have a few friends in the area who do not.

I have been contacted by a family member in Port Charlotte. Winds have caused the windows to break and water is everywhere in the house. She has been able to reach authorities to let them know there are elderly and disabled people in the home that need rescue. I let her know that it will be an unpleasant wait and to stay above the water on furniture. She has since turned off her phone. She is located on Midway Blvd 5 blocks from Neil Armstrong Elementary. For now they are somewhat safe and the weather will subside in a few hours.

Guys, Fort Myers is a disaster! Im seeing all over, and to the CN group, Cries for rescue flooding in, from a very elderly population. 911 down, Cell service down. People stuck on third floors of homes due to water. And Sheriff mobile command center floating down the street.
