Top gust report in Melbourne of 73 mph.

Checking Melbourne's obs overnight, I see peak sustained wind 45 kts (50 mph) with gusts 56 kts (about 65 mph). Looking farther south, I'm not seeing reports of sustained TS winds in Vero Beach. There's a 33kts gusting 46 kts early this morning.

Nothing close to TS winds in Ft. Myers. Just some wind gusts to 30-35 mph.

Not a bad vis satellite presentation for this time of the year, good thing for the dry air over the SE US and that it ran out of water, the UL winds were very conducive for further intensification.

Melbourne Int'l did reported wind gusts to 73 mph at 3:05 AM from the northern eyewall as Nicole was making landfall near Vero Beach. Below is the detailed link on its observation from the NWS.

Official wind gusts in east central FL.
That wind gust in Daytona Beach is from an official county building right on the beach, the instrument stopped reporting winds after that wind gust.

The new hurricane alley in FL.
They should had added Irma's track to this map which also did a lot of damage across central FL.

Saved Loop. Looks l'm stuck in one of the training bands.

Amazing how Nicole kept here structure moving over land.

Yeah thought the same thing. Iam sure it’s related to the subtropical dynamics. Look how west loaded it is. Normally worry about right front quadrant but this made no difference. Was meaningless to fret over the exact landfall point.

Nicole will be a problem all the way into New England

Anti-cyclone may form over Nicole once back in the water in the NE GoM
May get some re-stacking

North Orlando area checking in. I think Nicole did what it was forecast to do even down to the wind strength. Cudo's to WFTV - 9 for using their in house forecasting software that nailed the track. I had doubted their track but it proved to be spot on perfect. Debris at my house was less than Ian with only one new small branch falling from an oak and a couple of older branches that were brown and ready to fall anyway.
Power was out for 5 1/2 hours.
The greatest feeling is when the power comes back on. One of life's great joys for sure.
Thanks to everyone on this board for all the great insight into the storm. I read and watch the posts and rarely post. Good Job everyone and especially Storm2K !!!!

Checking in from central St. Petersburg again...
Still lucky to have power and internet. Rain has been steady for a few hours, gusts got pretty high in the last two hours. Still not enough to bring down more than small sticks from trees in the yard. No fences or trees down in my neighborhood as far as I can see. Radar seeming to show heavier rain bands now moving into northern Pinellas county (Clearwater) and away from the southern Pinellas peninsula (St. Pete).

Is it my eyes or is Nicole moving more north than I’d expect right now?

Winds have really died off in past hour or so in North Pinellas although the rain hasn't - we could easily end up with 3-5 inches (or more). Looks like on radar she's centered near the coast at the Hernando/Citrus County line and has taken on a more northerly component, should still get out over the Gulf but not far enough where it'll likely make that much difference.
