Storm is now undergoing an EWRC. Likely peaked at 135-140 knots.

12z BT is 135kt/922mb, which is reasonable. I missed when the eye was clearer so I don’t know how likely it was to have been a 5.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

16°C was the warmest temperature the eye had in this second intensity peak. It really feels like a category 5.

However, the microwave imagery provide almost 0 support for a wind estimate of 140+ kts. Maybe 130-125 kts is a more reasonable estimate at this point.

RadarSat SAR sampled TC Darian at 12:48Z last night (around its secondary peak) and found max winds of 119kts, much lower than JTWC's 12Z estimate of 135kts (which it later revised to 130kts).

Still out there strong but without affecting any land in the track.

All observations are in Tecumseh, OK unless otherwise noted.

Winter posts are focused mainly for Oklahoma & Texas.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Wow, 22 days as a cyclone. Does anyone has stats about which system has the record of the longest duration of cyclones among all the basins?

I think hurricane Ginger lasted 31 days. Most time in a single basin. Hurricane John spent the most time existing but crossed basins .(pacific)
Edit- Ginger lasted 27 days as a tropical cyclone.
