Outflow to the north still looks pinched, with some light shear coming in from the west side. These are modelled to improve over the next 24 hours and in this WV loop you can see the upper levels starting to improve to the north.

Still waiting on that visible dimple/warm spot. Currently overachieving when considering its satellite presentation.

Based on the recon's fixes it has picked up speed, I calculated it to be near 17 mph

The system's convective canopy is really expanding. lots of banding on the east. the western peninsula is going to get lots of heavy weather even if the core remains well offshore.

Anyone know what is to be expected weather wise for the Bradenton and St Pete area based off how the storm is moving/tracking?

It will rain in Tampa, but hopefully no direct impact from Idalia in Tampa.

Structure-wise it’s already a good deal ahead of what it was even a few hours ago. I suspect that latest burst that revolved around the west side probably helped quite a bit at walling off that shear from reaching the core.

Going to be an interesting 24 hours. Definitely do not envy those on the gulf side having to make stay or go decisions today.

We've just lost signal with NOAA3, the time we needed them the most!

Comparing Cuba and FL radars, looks like the eye became significantly smaller the last 8 min.
Maybe just an anomaly.

-80c burst on the western eyewall. This looks like go-time for RI

Looks like another tower overshooting the CDO.
Pretty close to my 25N bar.

Structure on satellite over the last 2 hours looks remarkably better. Storm is "filling out" on all sides now. RI is starting now.
