That angle is a killer. 10 degrees variation on the heading makes a tremendous difference in landfall.

Exactly. Ian was only a few degrees variation from expected track & the different was pretty significant.

Also for hurricane force gusts they're needed. You saw with Irma how SEFL had 90mph gusts for hours and caused a lot of power problems. We will probably see this in SWFL too. Gusts to 80-90 and with all the power grid still rigged from Ian patched together will cause issues.

While this won't be an Ian it can still cause disruption away from the center.

Watch Levi Cowan’s latest video that should wake people up. Although he does say track not set in stone so yeah wait and see. know more tomorrow

They always say be prepared for a category higher. That means prepare on the west coast of Florida for a Category 3!

Already seeing people getting supplies in Central Florida. Glad people are at least paying attention, even if it does end up being a bunch of rain and not much else

A forecasted storm to strengthen up through landfall, we've seen this story too many times lately especially on Florida's west coast. Hope everyone is prepared and stays safe.

If someone can do me a favor and let me know if the weather channel is doing 24 hour coverage yet on Idalia? I don't have cable, so I subscribe to FrndlyTv, which is only about $10.00 a month. Then I cancel it after. The only time I watch the weather channel is during the hurricane live coverage.

Well, I just turned TWC on. The DirecTV guide says that "Deep Water Salvage" should be on, but Dr. Knabb is on and they are talking about Idalia, for what that's worth.

I don’t know if those recent bursts moderated the environment or if the ULAC moved into a more favorable position, but I’m not seeing anywhere near the same evidence of shear that I saw this morning. Going to be an interesting recon flight tonight, I have a feeling Idalia could be a bit stronger than she’s letting on.

In Orlando, there is a Fox Weather channel that has been continually covering this storm. The channel number for antenna TV is 35-3, and it is a free channel. Also there is a live stream on their website https://www.foxweather.com/
